This was the first camera with ergonomically designed convex grips molded into the body for increased hand comfort. This and the camera’s light weight make it a pleasure to use for hours on end.The excellent Fujinon 90mm f/3.5 EBC lens is permanently attached to the body, and there are no changing lenses with the Fujica GW690. It’s also protected by a sturdy cap. The five EBC lens elements in four groups combine with the UV filter to give you clean and clear photos. The aperture may be stopped down to f32. Photographers have found that the larger apertures provide them with even sharper images. Use 67mm threaded filters with this Fuji. The shutter speed goes up to 1/500 and synchronizes with a flash. There is a cold shoe on top for attaching a flash unit or other accessories. Using a handheld light meter is fun and helpful. These are readily available and easily found with a quick search. The rangefinder eye window is round, not square.This impressive camera measures 7.44 inches wide by 4.68 inches high by 4.84 inches deep, and it weighs 3 pounds. Loading the 6×9 film is a straightforward process as is switching the control between 120 short (four) exposure, 120 regular (eight) exposure, and 220 (sixteen) exposure, with the simple switch on top. The manual advance is convenient and efficient, and the frame counter is clear and easy to read. On the bottom of the device, you notice a three-digit meter. This increases by one digit every ten times the shutter is activated. The camera’s leaf shutter should be inspected and serviced when the meter reads 500. That’s 5000 snaps.
